Postdoctoral Researcher in Geological Exploration of Carbonatite Complexes and Associated Critical MineralsGeology & Sustainable Mining InstituteMohammed VI Polytechnic University - Benguerir - MoroccoJob DescriptionThe Geology and Sustainable Mining Institute (GSMI) of University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) invites applications for Postdoctoral Researcher in Geological Exploration of Carbonatite Complexes and Associated Critical Minerals, with an expected start as soon as possible. We are seeking a motivated and highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher specializing in the geological exploration and characterization of igneous systems. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research group focused on advancing our understanding of carbonatite geology, mineralization processes, and their economic significance.Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct geological fieldwork, including mapping, sampling, and structural analysis of carbonatite complexes and associated rocks and minerals;
  • Monitoring, logging and study of drill cores;
  • Utilize advanced analytical techniques (e.g., electron microscopy, geochemical analyses, isotopic studies, geochronology) to characterize carbonatite mineralogy and petrogenesis;
  • Integrate multidisciplinary data (petrological, geophysical, geochemical) for comprehensive geological modeling;
  • Write technical reports and Collaborate effectively with team members, industry partners, and other research institutions;
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Qualifications:
  • PhD in geology of igneous rocks or equivalent, obtained within the past two years.
  • Demonstrated expertise in igneous petrology, economic geology, or mineral exploration.
  • Proficiency with analytical instruments and methodologies relevant to geological exploration and characterization (optical microscope, XRF, XRD, SEM-EDS, EPMA, ICP-MS).
  • Publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French/English
