Location: Plant Physiology Laboratory, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), MoroccoProject Overview:The Plant Physiology Laboratory at UM6P is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our multidisciplinary team investigating plant physiological responses to nutrient limitations, with a focus on phosphorus (P) and carbon (C) dynamics, biomass allocation and mobilization, and the mechanisms underlying nutrient deficiency responses. This position is part of a research initiative aiming to improve nutrient use efficiency in crops and understand plant adaptations to nutrient deficiency. The successful candidate will contribute to identifying key physiological and biochemical pathways that govern plant growth under varying phosphorus availability, including interactions with carbon metabolism and biomass partitioning.Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct controlled environment and field experiments to study plant responses to phosphorus and carbon limitations.
  • Analyze biomass allocation and mobilization patterns in response to nutrient deficiencies.
  • Quantify nutrient uptake, remobilization, and use efficiency using physiological, biochemical, and molecular tools.
  • Collaborate with team members in data analysis, modeling, and interpretation of complex physiological datasets.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at scientific conferences.
  • Contribute to supervision of graduate and undergraduate students, and participate in collaborative meetings.
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Plant Physiology, Plant Biology, Agronomy, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in nutrient physiology, especially phosphorus and/or carbon metabolism.
  • Strong background in plant nutrient transport, remobilization, or metabolic flux analysis.
  • Familiarity with methods such as gas exchange analysis, root imaging, metabolomics.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Please submit the following documents:
  • Cover letter outlining your research experience and motivation for applying.
  • CV including a full publication list.
  • Names and contact information of three academic referees.
