Job Description: Postdoctoral FellowDuration: 12 months renewable.Position Summary:We are inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the field of green flotation chemistry and sustainable mineral processing. This research project focuses on the development, characterization, and application of bio-based flotation additives to improve the enrichment and beneficiation of phosphate ores. The goal is to explore innovative, renewable solutions that support environmentally responsible mineral processing, while maintaining high efficiency and selectivity in flotation performance.Responsibilities:
  • Develop and synthesize bio-based flotation additives (e.g., collectors, dispersants, depressants, modifiers) from renewable or natural sources.
  • Characterize the chemical and functional properties of the synthesized reagents.
  • Conduct laboratory-scale flotation experiments to assess the performance of the additives in phosphate ore processing.
  • Study the interaction mechanisms between additives and mineral surfaces using surface chemistry and interfacial analysis techniques.
  • Contribute to the optimization of flotation process parameters based on experimental results.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including experts in mineral engineering, chemistry, and process optimization.
  • Supervise MSc/PhD students working on related tasks.
  • Publish high-impact papers and contribute to funding applications.
  • Collaborate with project partners and compile, analyze, and document research findings.
  • Disseminate results through the writing of scientific publications and technical deliverables.
  • Work closely with fellow researchers to interpret results and contribute to the writing of scientific articles.
Candidate Profile:
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing, Materials Science, or related discipline.
  • Experience in the synthesis and application of functional chemical additives.
  • Solid experience in organic synthesis, especially of amphiphilic or functionalized compounds.
  • Strong background in surface and colloid chemistry, particularly relevant to flotation systems.
  • Experience with characterization techniques.
  • Proven publication record and project involvement in relevant fields.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
  • Knowledge of flotation processes, especially for industrial minerals such as phosphate.
  • Familiarity with principles of green chemistry and renewable resources.
  • Ability to design and carry out flotation tests, including reagent optimization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong scientific writing skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Initiative, autonomy, and willingness to conduct fieldwork.
